Agglutination

Latex agglutination test for the qualitative detection of pathogen-specific antigen-antibody reactions.

The patient sample (culture or serum sample) is added to a suspension of latex particles coated with specific antibodies or antigens. If the respective antigen or antibody is present, an agglutination of the latex particles will be visible. If no specific antigen or antibody is present, the latex stays in smooth suspension.
