Immunofluorescence IFA

Indirect Immunofluorescence test (IFA) for the qualitative detection of antibodies against specific antigens in human serum.

For the detection of viral infections, the wells of the slides are coated with a suspension of cells infected with the respective pathogen. Antibodies bind to the infected cells in the well during the serum incubation. The antigen-antibody complexes are detected by means of a fluorescein labeled anti-human immunoglobulin, and visualized with the aid of a fluorescence microscope.

Indirect Immunofluorescence test (IFA) for the qualitative detection of antibodies against specific antigens in human serum.

For the detection of autoantibodies, the wells of the slides are coated with tissue sections or with a cell suspension. Antibodies bind to the fixed antigens in the well during the serum incubation. The antigen-antibody complexes are detected by means of a fluorescein labeled anti-human immunoglobulin, and visualized with the aid of a fluorescence microscope.
